What it sees stays on your Mac.
The short version: SqwarkSelf keeps what it sees in one local database on your Mac. Nothing leaves unless you turn on two things yourself — your own Jev key, or a licence. This page says exactly what each one sends.
What the app sees
- Which app is in front, the title of its window, and, in a browser, the site and path of the tab you're on.
- Query strings, fragments, ports and sign-in details are stripped from every address the moment it's read — before anything is stored or sent, not after.
- It never reads keystrokes, screen contents, or anything on a page. Just the app, the window title, and the address bar.
Stored only on your Mac
What it sees goes into one SQLite database, ~/Library/Application Support/SqwarkSelf/log.sqlite, with your settings next to it. There's no account and no sync. Nothing here leaves your Mac by default.
- For password managers, banking, mail apps and Messages, the window title is never stored and the address is reduced to just the site.
- Private windows in Chrome, Arc, Brave, Edge and Firefox are dropped the same way. Safari doesn't say which of its windows are private, so a Safari private window is treated like any other.
- Delete the folder above and every minute it recorded goes with it.
Jev, only if you add your own key
Paste your own TypeSafe API key and the app can ask Jev about the odd case its own rules can't call — a YouTube tutorial against a YouTube hole. That question sends the app name, the window title, the site and path (never the query string) and the focus text you typed. Nothing on the never-send list above is ever sent, whether or not you've added a key. Those requests go to TypeSafe under your own account with them, never through us. The key itself lives in your macOS Keychain and is never logged. Without a key, nothing the app records leaves your Mac.
Buying a licence
Checkout is run by Stripe, which collects your email address and payment details — we never see your card. Our licensing server (a Cloudflare Worker) keeps your email address, a hash of your licence key (never the key itself), and, for each Mac that activates it, a hashed device identifier and the Mac's name — never your Mac's serial number. Activating and the occasional background check send only the key, that device identifier and the Mac's name, nothing the app has recorded. Resend sends the licence-key email. For rate limits, IP addresses and email addresses are kept only as hashes, and only for the hour or day the limit covers.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers of any kind. The fonts are served from this site, not fetched from anywhere else. It's hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request data (such as your IP address) to deliver the pages, the way any web host does. The buy button and the lost-key form send you, and the email address you type, straight to the licensing server above.
Deleting your data
Email [email protected] any time to see what we hold against your licence, or to have it deleted. Deleting it revokes the licence key — it stops activating or validating on any Mac.
